In his print for the Oiso Station Hiroshige introduces for the first time the vagaries of the weather along the coastal Tokaido Road. Hiroshige is known as a master of creating atmospheric effects, and here he turns from the sunny days dominating the set so far to a rainy day scene. The rain appears just to have begun falling on the now familiar huts, trees and travelers, the sky a wonderful yellow-gray.
