Shao Erch`uan is a renowned potter in mid-Qing Dynasty. He is also famed in Zhisha calligraphy carving so that he had carved teapots made by other renowned potters such as Shao Youlan (邵友蘭).

The inscription on one side of the body of the teapot was originated from a couplet by Jin Nong (1687-1764), one of the Yangzhou Eight Monsters of early Qing. The inscription on the teapot base was originated from "I Ching".
