He Xiangning (1878-1972)

He Xiangning is a famous contemporary woman artist. She was Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, Chairman of the Revolutionary Committee of the Kuomintang, Honorary President of the All-China Women's Federation and Chairman of the Chinese Association of Artists.

She is a woman of high ideal, she laid great emphasis on motif in works of art. In her paintings of pine trees, plum blossoms, lions, tigers and landscapes, her ideal of life is clearly discernible. She painted only in her spare time.

何香凝(1878-1972)

原名諫,又名瑞諫,號雙清樓主,又號棉村女士。廣東南海棉村人。1894年與廖仲愷結婚後,曾從劍父問畫法。1902年 赴日留學,1905年參加同盟會,是該會第一位女會員。1908年入日本東京本鄉女子美術學校,從田中賴章學畫。1910年畢業於日本本鄉女子美術學校高等科。仲愷遇難後,創辦仲愷農校,自此積極參加革命和抗日等團體,為革命奔走。歷任國民黨中央要職。戰後,在中央人民政府亦歷任要職。曾任中國美術家協會主席。解放後曾任中國美協主席。1972年在北京去世。刊有《何香凝中國畫選集》。

擅長詩畫,以畫山水、花卉、松、梅、菊、竹、獅、虎、鹿、鶴等著名。早期作品有濃厚日本畫風格。所作山水、花草筆致圓渾質樸,色彩古艷雅逸。尤擅獅、虎、鹿、鶴等動物畫,意態生動逼真。其繪畫和題詩,鮮明地反映了她在不同歷史時期對革命的態度。六十餘年來創作不下千幅,惜多流散。
