Japanese painting on silk of Oshidori
19th century SIGNED by artist.
Painted on silk with sumi gofun watercolours and a gold-gilt edge
with patterned silk border. Depicts 9 Mandarin ducks or
"Oshidori" they are the emblem of perfect hapiness
peace and fidelity. Signed under seal by the artist Ohkyo titled
simply "Nine Mandarin Ducks painted in mid September".
